Do you check your phone more than you check in with yourself?
Here’s how to check in with you…
Hey y’all, welcome to More Lovin… the podcast that brings more laughter, light, and love into everyday life. I’m your host LeAnn Austin, and together we’ll rediscover the beauty of connection to your body, your mind, your spirit, and the people you love.
Today’s episode #202: Check-In before you Check-Out
I’ve noticed that we check in with our phones way more often than we check in with ourselves. We’ll glance at our battery percentage, see how much energy we’ve got left, but how often do we actually do that for us?
I want to share something simple that can completely shift how you show up in your day: the Lovin Check-In.
This isn’t about adding one more thing to your to-do list. It’s a gentle way to ask yourself: How am I really doing in my body, my mind, and my spirit right now?
Let’s walk through this together, starting with your body.
Take a deep breath. Now ask yourself: How’s my body feeling today? Am I tired, tense, restless, or maybe energized and opened? Maybe my shoulders are tight or my jaw’s been clenched without me realizing it.
There’s no right answer, just simply awareness. If your body’s asking for rest, give it some rest. If it wants to move, stretch, or dance, then do that too. Sometimes loving yourself starts with simply listening to what your body is whispering to you.
Now, let’s check in with your mind. What’s been looping in your thoughts today? Are they helpful and hopeful, or maybe a little heavy?
If your mind feels cluttered, just imagine clearing some space like tidying up a room or opening up a window to let some fresh air in.
Sometimes I’ll even ask myself: What’s one thought I can let go of right now? And usually my mind exhales a little bit. A calm mind, makes more room for compassion, both for others and for yourself.
And finally, let’s check in with your spirit. That deep down part of you that knows what really matters.
What’s lighting you up lately? Or maybe what’s been dimming your light a little? Where do you feel connected? Or maybe where do you feel disconnected?
Your spirit wants connection. Maybe that means prayer, a walk in nature, journaling, or simply sitting in quiet gratitude. Whatever helps you feel grounded and guided, that’s your love and energy reconnecting.
So see, the Lovin Check-In is really simple: Calm your body. Clear your mind. Connect your spirit.
It only takes a minute, but it changes how you move through your day. You’ll notice yourself reacting less, listening more, and feeling more present, both with yourself and with the people you love.
And that’s the goal of the Lovin Check-In, to live from a place where your energy feels aligned and your heart feels open. That space where you’re checking in rather than checking out.
So if you’re thinking, LeAnn, ugh, I need to do this more often. Well, I’ve got you! I created a free Lovin Check-In tool that helps you calm your body, clear your mind, and connect your spirit in less than a minute.
It’s visual, it’s simple, and you can use it anywhere, even when life feels very chaotic.
