Today we’re getting real about something we all deal with, but rarely pause long enough to unpack: Stress
You know those days when everything feels like a little too much, whether it’s the never ending to-do list, the texts that keep coming in, or you’re snapping at people you love for no good reason.
Stress shows up in ways big and small, and if we don’t learn how to recognize it, manage it and release it, it piles up. Last week I almost cried because I couldn’t get my printer to work. It wasn’t really about the printer though, it was about everything else I’ve been carrying.
So today I want to share with you a few simple ways I reset when life feels heavy. No long meditation apps, no disappearing to a spa in the mountains. Just real doable right now things you can reach for when your brain and your body feel frazzled. This my friend, is your stress reset. Let’s take a big breath together and dive in.
So what is stress? Stress is your body’s natural, physical, mental, and emotional response to any demand or challenge.
Stress is basically your body’s alarm system. It’s there to protect you, but when it’s stuck in the on position for too long, it starts to drain you instead of help you. Stress isn’t just big things, it’s the small daily things that pile up.
So how do you know when stress is sneaking up on you? Well, here’s a few common signs: You snapping at people. You have trouble sleeping. You feel frazzled and forgetful. You are over committing to things or you’re waking up already anxious before you start your day. Remember, sometimes it’s not big things. It’s the little tiny paper cuts that add up.
So notice what are some stress signals that you have? Simply being aware of what you’re feeling and doing when you’re stressed can be really helpful. I encourage you to grab a piece of paper and jot down all the things you’re stressed about. And then pick one thing that you could release, reset, or tackle today.
A couple other things I like to do when I’m feeling a lot of stress is to get outside, take a walk, watch the birds, soak in some sunlight. Those few minutes to pause does wonders for my stress.
