Mother’s Day can bring up all the emotions, and the idea of a “perfect” day? Total myth.
Here are 3 simple ways to make Mother’s Day feel good for you. Let’s ditch the pressure and create a day that actually fits!
Welcome to Lovin My Daughter-in-law podcast. I’m relationship expert and master certified coach LeAnn Austin. I’ll help you create more connection, love, and fun with others, yourself and your daughter-in-law.
Hey y’all, welcome to Lovin My Daughter-in-law, episode #171: Celebrate Mother’s Day YOUR Way!
Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and I don’t know about you, but this holiday can bring up a lot of emotions.
For almost 28 years as a mom, I’ve experienced quite a few things. Heartfelt cards, sweet gifts, and well, some years where it just felt like another Sunday. I even had a friend who would give me a little something because she knew things were pretty quiet at my house with all my boys.
And you know what? That’s okay because the idea of a quote: “perfect” Mother’s Day is a myth.
Maybe you are a new mom or you’re hoping to be a mom. Maybe you’ve lost your mom. Or your relationship with your mom or your kids isn’t what you wish it was. Maybe you love Mother’s Day, or maybe you’d rather skip it all together
This year, let’s take back Mother’s Day and make it our own. Here are three easy ways to do just that.
First, choose joy for yourself. Do something you love. Read a book, go for a walk. Don’t cook or clean. Give yourself permission to enjoy the day, even if no one else makes a big deal of it.
Second, if you want a gift, get it. You can drop hints, make a wishlist, or better yet, just buy yourself the thing you’ve been wanting.
And third, celebrate another mom. Reach out to a mom or a woman you admire and wish her a beautiful Mother’s day. A simple text memory or thank you can mean the world.
Mother’s Day is about honoring, appreciating, and celebrating in the way that feels best for YOU.
So this year and every year moving forward, celebrate Mother’s Day YOUR way.

One of my favorite Mother’s Day quotes from Maggie Gyllenhaal: “Motherhood brings you to your knees in a way that doesn’t leave room for you to judge others. It makes you see that there’s no ideal – a constant struggle, constantly compromising, but ultimate love.” Hmm, something to think about.
Here’s to doing it your way, connection and love. Have a good one, y’all.
