What if movement isn’t about becoming fitter, rather becoming Freer?
Hey y’all. Welcome to More Lovin, the podcast that brings more laughter, light, and love into everyday life. I’m LeAnn Austin, and around here, love isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we practice through the More Lovin Method. Move. Connect. Love. Three simple choices that can change your day, and over time, your life. Let’s practice a little more lovin. Here we go.
Today’s episode #241: Move ~ The First Step to More Lovin
Have you ever noticed how the hardest part of moving is often just getting started? One of the unexpected gifts of becoming a fitness instructor has been watching people show up.
Every week, I watch incredible people walk through those doors. Some are grieving. Some are caring for aging parents. Some are navigating health challenges. Some are simply exhausted. Every person has a story, and yet they show up. They keep moving. And every time I see that, I’m reminded that movement is about so much more than exercise.
It’s about hope. It’s about possibility. It’s about choosing not to give up. That’s actually what inspired something I’ve been so excited to share.
For years, More Lovin has been about bringing more laughter, light, and love into everyday life. But I realized I wanted to make it even simpler. So moving forward, you’ll hear me talk about the More Lovin Method: Move. Connect. Love. Three simple choices that can change your day, and over time, your life.
Today we’re talking about the first step together ~ Move. Not because you have to, but because you get to. One of the books that has really reinforced what I’ve believed for years is Built to Move. It reminded me that our bodies were designed to move, not just exercise, but to live well.
One of the biggest messages in Built to Move is that movement isn’t optional for thriving, it’s fundamental to being human. I love that because it shifts the question from, “Should I exercise?” to, “How can I honor the body I was given today?” That one question changes everything.
Movement really is medicine. It improves your mood, reduces your stress, helps you sleep better, extends your life, and so much more. It’s not about burning calories. It’s about building a life. It’s not about how your body looks. It’s about what your body lets you do. It helps you show up for people and live the life you love.
I know this personally. I shared in my recent podcast #230: I Did It! Where I climbed the equivalent elevation of Mount Everest at 29029 Snow Basin. I didn’t reach the top because I was the strongest person on the mountain. I reached the top because I kept taking the next step. I just kept moving.
Movement prepares us for life. Movement isn’t the goal. It’s what helps us fully live. The success isn’t simply, I can do a pull-up or squat 100 pounds. It’s, I can walk with my family or friends. I can play with my kids or grandkids. I can carry groceries, climb stairs, travel.
That’s the kind of strength that matters most. Basically, I can keep saying yes to the life I want to live. That’s what choosing to move makes possible.
And here’s what I’ve learned. Movement is powerful, and it’s even more powerful when it’s paired with connection. And here’s the thing, movement is only the beginning. Next week, we’ll talk about something just as important: Connect.
Before we can connect more deeply, before we can love more fully, we get to move, because movement creates momentum, and momentum creates possibility. There isn’t one right way to move. The best movement is the one you’ll actually do. You don’t have to move the fastest or the farthest. You simply keep moving.
So here’s my challenge. Start where you are. Pick one way to move today, and then do it again tomorrow. That’s how momentum begins.
So why does all of this matter? Because movement isn’t about becoming fitter. It’s about becoming freer. And maybe freedom begins with something as simple as taking the next step. Hmmm, something to think about and to practice.
Before we go, grab one thing from today’s conversation and remember the More Lovin Method: Move. Connect. Love. Here’s to a little more movement and a whole lot more lovin. You got this!
