What if you’re not inconsistent?
What if you’re just…
Hey y’all. Welcome to More Lovin, the podcast that brings more laughter, light, and love into everyday life. I’m your host LeAnn Austin, and together we’ll rediscover the beauty of connection to your body, your mind, your spirit, and the people you love.
Today’s episode #238: Keep Going ~ The Secret to Consistency
Hey y’all, welcome back to More Lovin. Can you believe it? Today is our final step in this series, Your Calm, Strong Climb ~ a 5-part journey all about understanding your nervous system so you can feel calmer, stronger, and more supported in everyday life.
And wow, what a climb it’s been. We started with episode 233: Base Camp, where we learned that your body isn’t working against you, it’s working to protect you.
Then we learned to Catch Your Breath (episode 234), how to pause before the spiral, as well as support ourselves with small, powerful nervous system tools.
We explored What’s Really Slowing You Down in episode 235, by uncovering protective patterns like overdoing, shutting down, people-pleasing, and avoidance.
In episode 237, we talked about how to Climb Strong without Burning Out, because strength grows best with support, not constant survival mode.
And today, we’re wrapping this series with something so important, Keep Going: The Secret to Consistency.
Because let’s be real here, so many of us don’t struggle with starting, we struggle with continuing. We get inspired, we set goals, we make plans, we have a “this time I’m really gonna do it” moment, and then life happens. Stress happens, overwhelm happens, and suddenly we stop.
Then comes the self-talk: Why can’t I stay consistent? Why do I always fall off? Why do I keep starting over?
So let me lovingly say something that I really hope lands:
You may not be inconsistent, you may just be overwhelmed. Because often inconsistency isn’t about laziness. It’s not a character flaw. It’s not proof that you’re incapable.
Sometimes your nervous system simply does not feel safe with the pace, pressure, or expectations you’ve placed on yourself. This is such a game changer.
What if consistency felt safe instead of stressful? What if consistency wasn’t about perfection, but about building trust?
Because here’s what often happens: We set giant goals, we go all in, we try to change everything at once, we push hard, and our nervous system says, “This feels like way too much.”
So we fall off the bandwagon, not because we don’t care, but because overwhelm interprets consistency. This is why so many people live in the start-stop cycle. Start strong, burn out, stop, feel bad, start again.
But your Calm, Strong Climb has been teaching something different all along. Small, safe, steady steps matter. Tiny habits create safety. Why? Because small actions are often easier for your nervous system to trust.
A five-minute walk may feel safer than an extreme fitness overhaul. One deep breath may feel more doable than, “I need to completely calm down.” Writing one sentence in a journal may feel safer than, “I need to transform my whole life.”
Tiny doesn’t mean insignificant. Tiny often means sustainable. And repetition? Repetition builds trust with your body.
Every time you gently follow through, every time you show up in a small way, every time you create safety instead of pressure, you teach your nervous system: “We can do this. We are safe here. We don’t have to fear change.” That is so powerful.
Consistency is not built by punishing yourself. It’s built by creating enough safety that you can keep returning.
So today, let’s make this practical. Here are a few simple ways to build consistency with more calm and strength:
Practice #1: Make it smaller
Ask yourself, “What is the smallest version of this I can actually sustain?” Not perfect, sustainable.
Practice #2: Focus on returning, not restarting
Missing a day does not mean you failed. It means you’re human. Consistency is often less about never missing and more about gently returning.
Practice #3: Celebrate safety, not just success
Did you pause? Did you breathe? Did you choose one supportive step? That matters. Because a calm + strong life is rarely built overnight. It’s built slowly, lovingly, steadily. One breath, one choice, one nervous system safe step at a time.
So if there’s one thing I hope you take from this entire Calm, Strong Climb series, it’s this: You do not need to become a completely different person overnight. You do not need to force your way forward. You do not need shame to create change.
You get to choose understanding, safety, support, and small, meaningful steps you can trust. This is how real transformation happens. Hmmm, something to think about.
And this is exactly why I do what I do. If this series has stirred something in you, if you’re realizing you want more calm, more strength, more consistency, and more understanding in your life, I’d love to support you. Details HERE
