Episode 237: Climb Strong without Burning Out

When was the last time you felt tired, and your first thought was: “I just need to push harder.”
What if that’s not actually what you need?

Hey y’all. Welcome to More Lovin, the podcast that brings more laughter, light, and love into everyday life. I’m your host LeAnn Austin, and together we’ll rediscover the beauty of connection to your body, your mind, your spirit, and the people you love.

Today’s episode #237: Climb Strong without Burning Out

Hey y’all, welcome back to More Lovin. I’m so glad you’re here. We are continuing our series, Your Calm, Strong Climb ~ a 5-part journey all about understanding your nervous system, so you can feel calmer, stronger, and more supported in your everyday life.

So far, we’ve built our foundation at Base Camp. We’ve learned how to Catch Your Breath before the spiral. We’ve explored What’s Really Slowing You Down by uncovering protective patterns that may be shaping your climb.

And today, we’re talking about Climbing Strong without Burning Out. Because what if pushing harder isn’t actually making you stronger?

So many of us have been taught that strength means more pressure. Push harder, do more, try harder, don’t stop, no pain, no gain.

And while effort absolutely matters, constantly operating in stress mode can actually work against the very strength you’re trying to build. Whether it’s in your body, your goals, your healing, your relationships, or your personal growth, more pressure is not always the answer.

Sometimes more safety is. This is such an important part of Your Calm, Strong Climb because chronic stress and burnout can start to feel normal.

You may think: “I just need more discipline. I should be able to handle this. Why am I so tired? Why do I keep starting strong and then crashing?”

But burnout is not always a sign that you’re weak. Often, burnout is a sign your system has been carrying too much for too long without enough recovery.

Your nervous system was not designed to stay in constant survival mode. When you’re always pushing, always striving, always running on adrenaline, your body can begin to interpret life like one long uphill emergency.

And eventually your body pushes back. This can look like exhaustion, irritability, trouble sleeping, increased anxiety, loss of motivation, hormonal imbalance, emotional shutdown, feeling wired and tired at the same time.

Sound familiar? This is why stress and fitness, and stress and life, are deeply connected. Because true strength isn’t just built in the push, it’s also built in the recovery.

Think about physical training. Muscles don’t grow during the workout alone. They grow when the body has support, nourishment, and recovery afterward.

The same is true emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Growth happens best when your system feels safe enough to adapt, not just survive.

So let me say this clearly. You do not become stronger by living in constant overwhelm. You become stronger when you challenge yourself and support yourself. That’s the magic.

Stress plus recovery. Effort plus safety. Challenge plus compassion. This is how you climb strong without burning out.

So today, I want to offer you a few powerful mindset shifts:

Shift #1: Stop glorifying exhaustion

Being exhausted does not automatically mean you’re succeeding. Sometimes exhaustion is a signal, a loving invitation to check in.

Ask yourself, “Is this making me stronger or more depleted?”

Shift #2: Recovery is productive

Rest is not falling behind. Pausing is not quitting. Regulation is not weakness. Rest is part of strength. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is recover before your body forces you to.

And shift #3: Sustainable beats extreme

All or nothing often leads to burnout. Steady, supported progress builds trust. What can you do consistently with more calm?

Because Your Calm, Strong Climb is not about sprinting until you collapse. It’s about building a life you can actually sustain.

So maybe today looks like taking the walk instead of punishing yourself with over-training, breathing before reacting, saying no when your plate is full, fueling your body, sleeping more, asking for help, choosing progress over pressure.

That is strength, too. And here’s the beautiful part. When your nervous system feels safer… you often think clearer, train smarter, and show up more fully.

This is More Lovin, y’all. More loving your body enough to listen, more loving your mind enough to slow down, more loving your life enough to build it sustainably.

Because your climb matters and so do you! You’re allowed to pursue growth without destroying yourself in the process.

So today, I want to ask you: Where are you pushing so hard that you may actually need more support instead? What would it look like to climb strong but also calm? To build resilience without burnout? To choose strength that lasts?

And if this is something you’re navigating right now, if you’re realizing you’ve been living in push mode for too long, I’d love to support you. Details HERE
