What if one of the simplest ways to feel better… was just stepping outside?
Hey y’all, welcome to More Lovin, the podcast that brings more laughter, light, and love into everyday life. I’m your host LeAnn Austin, and together we’ll rediscover the beauty of connection: to your body, your mind, your spirit, and the people you love.
Today’s episode #219: Stepping into the Light ~ Literally
We are diving into one of my favorite 5 basics ~ sunlight!
I like to think of the 5 Basics like the foundation of a house. Sleep, movement, sunlight, nourishment, and connection. You can decorate all you want, but if the foundation is shaky, everything else feels harder.
Now, we’ve already talked about sleep (in episode 215) and movement (in episode 217). So today we’re letting the sun do some heavy lifting.
Science tells us that sunlight helps regulate circadian rhythm, boosts serotonin (your happy hormone), supports vitamin D production, and improves sleep quality.
Your body literally uses light as information.
Morning sunlight tells your brain: Hey, it’s time to wake up. It’s safe to be alert.
Even a few minutes outside can shift mood and energy.
Now I want this to be practical. So here are a few super simple ways that you can get your light fix today.
First, open a window. Let the sunbeam hit your desk while you sip your favorite drink.
Second, step outside for five minutes. Morning, noon, or afternoon ~ just a little sunlight can do wonders.
Third, look up at the sky. And bonus points if you notice the clouds or the birds ~ it’s just like a mini meditation.
And fourth, a sunlight snack. Combine your outside break with a short walk or stretch.
There’s something deeply spiritual about light too. It reminds us that darkness isn’t permanent, clarity comes gradually, and we don’t have to force growth.
So here’s a little journaling prompt for you. And yes, you can do this while soaking up some rays!
Ask yourself: Where can I let more light in physically or emotionally?
Remember, the body understands light before it understands words. Hmm, something to think about.
Here’s to sunlight and More Lovin. Have a good one y’all.
