Do you notice yourself saying: Here I go again?
What about changing the word Go to Grow ~ Here I Grow Again?
Welcome to Lovin My Daughter-in-law podcast. I’m relationship expert and master certified coach LeAnn Austin. I’ll help you create more connection, love, and fun with others, yourself, and your daughter-in-law.
Hey y’all, you’re listening to Lovin My Daughter-in-law, episode #141: Here I Grow Again
I’m guessing you’ve heard this phrase lots of times in your life: here I go again. This is a phrase we typically use when we’re about to repeat an action or enter a familiar situation. It can be a little frustrating saying, here I go again, because we’re expecting the outcome or experience to be the same as it has already been in the past.
You may have said something like: here I go again, dealing with the same old problem at work. Or, here I go again, doing this thing I don’t even like, just because my kid wants to.
Notice this in your own life. Do you say, here I go again? And if so, what are you referring to? What do you think is going to keep happening?
I was talking to a client who said, Here I grow again. I don’t know who came up with this phrase, but I love it. If you were to change the wording in this sentence by two letters, and say to yourself, here I grow again. How would that be for you?
This might look something like: Here I grow again, figuring out this problem at work and how I can make it better. Or, here I grow again, telling my sweet boy, no, mama isn’t going to do that particular thing he wants. And that’s okay.
Saying, here I grow again, gives us opportunity for growth in a familiar situation. It suggests that even though the same scenario is happening again, that we’re focused on learning something new and improving how we show up.
So give it a try. Here I grow again and really pay attention to how this starts to tweak things for you.
I love this quote from E. E. Cummings: “it takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” Hmmm, something to think about.
Here’s to growing, connection, and love. Have a good one y’all.
